Fantasy soccer anyone?

I've already got my fantasy team picked for this season's Premier League, which kicks off on August 15. Do you fancy your chances against my team- "Chelsea Clinton"? If so, go ahead and join my newly-created "Posterous" league now and prove you're a managerial genius. All you have to do is click here, create your team and join my league with this code: 861362-250775. Good luck. You'll need it.

DADA DAT DA DAAA!

Not sure why there is a McDonalds sign in the picture I found above, but the Community Shield is back and I'm lovin' it. The two best teams in England - Chelsea v. Manchester United tonight at 3pm UK time- I have a feeling it is going to be huge. Both teams will want to make a statement to the other as well as the rest of the league that they are the ones to beat this season.

It has been a summer of big change in the Premier League. There are a lot of questions to be answered: Will Aresene Wenger's reliance on youth cost his side and his job? Can Manchester City still suck? Will Everton's cool new jerseys make them the best club in Merseyside? But the two most important questions have to be: Has Ferguson done enough to replace the genius of Ronaldo? And can Ancelotti re-invigorate an ageing Chelsea back to the top where it belongs? Of course these questions won't be answered tonight (Michael Owen- you're joking right?! Hail King Carlo!), but the game should provide a good hint of what is to come in this year's edition of the English Premier League.

Ah how I love football season!

The greatest drink ever invented

Have you ever tried 100Plus?! If you haven't then you need to find a local Asian food wholesaler and ask them to order you a crate now. This drink is the elixir of life! I got hooked on this isotonic deliciousness when I lived in Singapore. Not only does it taste like a perfect dream, but it is the ultimate cure for a disgusting hangover or a super sweaty sport workout. Make sure it is ice cold though or you won't get this drink's full amazing rejuvenating powers. 100Plus is totally healthy for you too- my Singaporean doctor recommended that I drink at least a couple of cans a day. Excellent advice.

Unfortunately, when I moved from Singapore back to New Zealand for university it took a couple of years for 100Plus to follow me back. In that time I made the silly, hugely regrettable mistake of converting to Powerade. A couple of years drinking that sugar-overloaded concoction (it is made by Coke so what do you expect) and I had to visit the dentist to get my front teeth capped. The suger had slowly dissolved the enamel off the front of my teeth! That was when I finally tracked down 100Plus to a small Asian food wholesaler. What a huge find that was! I quickly got back on track with my drinking and my teeth were saved from future harm.

I think this quote from the 100Plus website sums up the drink's awesomeness:

"Outdo yourself and go beyond the limits of your mind. 100Plus comes in multiple invigorating flavours besides the ever famous Original taste to zap you for the challenges ahead."

I couldn't have said it better. The 100Plus zap is incredible- right my 100Plus people? Sooo good!

Speaking of zap, right now I'm off to drink my second 100Plus can of the day. Fortunately for me, Dubai was already up to speed with its 100Plus distribution and I didn't have to worry about ordering a shipment from Singapore.

Cheers!

I blame Hunter S. Thompson and Larry David

I have been pretty slack with my blogging lately. I am trying to be better this week.

Part of the reason why I have been so lazy is because I started reading Hunter S. Thompson's The Great Shark Hunt and it has completely distracted me. His Gonzo Journalism styles are hilarious to read and his topics are so interesting too. It makes me want to try writing a few articles of my own. Anyone and everyone can sell articles to magazines over here in Dubai I reckon. It's not exactly ground-breaking journalism territory.

Another excuse for my laziness is that my girlfriend and I got a free month suscription to Orbit satellite TV last week and the 6th season of Curb Your Enthusiam is showing at the moment. I have seen all the previous 5 seasons, but not 6. I love that show- Larry David is genius.

So between reading, watching TV and my regular new music discovery time online (by no purposeful plan I end up spending about an hour a day trying to find my next favourite musician- it's like a hobby) my blog has been a bit quiet of late.

Have you missed me?

Monkey Island is back!!!

Were you a huge Monkey Island fan back in the 90s?!  Did you get super excited when you heard Monkey Island SE was released as an Apple app, download it without a second thought and then remember exactly how to beat the game?!  Well you are going to love this! Move over Jack Sparrow because here comes Guybrush Threepwood!

I have been hoping LucasArts would re-release all the old games someday, but this is even better.  Too bad it is only available on PC and Wii.  Looks like I'll just have to buy myself a new Wii.  Booyah!

The Cove

"Winner of audience awards across the world, including Sundance, SilverDocs and Hot Docs, The Cove follows a team of activists and filmmakers as they infiltrate a heavily-guarded cove in Taiji, Japan. In this remote village they witness and document activities deliberately being hidden from the public: More than 20,000 dolphins and porpoises are being slaughtered each year and their meat, containing toxic levels of mercury, is being sold as food in Japan, often times labeled as whale meat.

The majority of the world is not aware this is happening. The Taiji cove is blocked off from the public. Cameras are not allowed inside and the media does not cover the story. It's critical that we get the word out in Japan. It's critical that we get the word out—everywhere. We believe that once the Japanese people know, they will demand change."

-from www.takepart.com/thecove/

You can take part, you can spread the word, you can take action, you can help save the dolphin by visiting the Take Part website here.

The Very Best

I found some awesome new music this weekend- a band called The Very Best.  The Very Best are Esau Mwamwaya, a drummer/singer from Malawi, and Radioclit, the London-based production duo.  Their debut album is supposed to drop this fall- so check out one of their new tracks below.  It's called "Warm Heart of Africa" (ft. Ezra Koenig- singer of Vampire Weekend).

If you rate this track then check out the band here.  You can download their mixtape for free, which includes an awesome take on Vampire Weekend's "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa".  Enjoy!

Johnny Drama plays rugby for Australia...

I watched the All Blacks beat Australia this weekend (huge game!) and thought I saw a familiar face in the Aussie line up.  It looks like Johnny Drama (star of Entourage) has given up Hollywood, put on a good few pounds and laced up as prop for Australia.  What a crap prop he is too.  Stick to b-grade acting mate!
