Start your own movement!

This is so classic!

It actually reminds me of that Diffusion of Innovations theory I studied in marketing about how new ideas spread through culture.  In this case it's how a dance movement spreads through a music festival!

The topless crazy dancing guy is the Innovator.  The guy in the green T-shirt and the big guy in the black T-shirt are the Early Adopters.  Next come the Early Majority and before long they are followed by the Late Majority.  The lame people that are rocking up to dance after the music has stopped are the Laggards.

Marketing made easy...and really funny.  Now go start your own movement!

WORD ART!

Have you heard of the website Wordle?  It's a cool little toy on the web that creates "word clouds" for you based on any text you provide.  Words that occur more frequently in the source text are created larger in the word cloud.  You can personalise each cloud using a bunch of different text, colour and layout options.  The site also let's you print and save your own designs.  I typed in the address for this blog and made the cool cloud below (you can click the picture for a larger view).

Wordle: sunnie

Stuck for ideas?!  What about finding out what your CV look like as a cloud.  Print it on a T-shirt and boom you could wear your CV to your next interview.  Who knows, a little humor during the recession might land you that job.  If you've already got a job how about using the last few emails you sent to your boss?  That cloud could be pretty insightful.  Or even better send your next email to your boss as a Wordle.  Endless fun right?!  Well at least a good 30 minutes worth.  So hurry up and start making your own clouds!

READY AIM FLASH!

Julius von Bismarck is the inventor of the 'Image Fulgurator' (Fulgurator means Flash Thrower)- a gun camera that can project "ghost" images into the photos of strangers.  The gun camera basically fires a flash in reverse- throwing whatever image the user has placed on the camera slide in the direction the lens is pointed.  The trick of the whole thing is that the Image Fulgurator flash is triggered by the flash of other cameras.  So when an unsuspecting tourist rocks up to take a photo of some cool building, Julius can add his own little signature to the photo without the tourist seeing a thing.  The tourist will only see the "ghost" image when they review their photos.  And there you go, a new form of guerilla art is born- light graffiti.  Awesome!

Imagine the possibilities of this invention?!  Advertisers would go nuts if they got their hands on one.  The locational limits for ads would suddenly disappear.  You could be on holiday and take a great photo of a stunningly beautiful beach, only to find that there happens to be an image of a Mars bar on one of the palm trees.

Fortunately, Julius is working hard on making sure the patent falls into his hands and nobody elses.  I can't wait until a commercial version is ready to go.  If you can't wait to start having a little fun of your own, there is no reason why you can't go out and make your own though.  Check out Julius' website for more details.  He has some other pretty cool inventions too.

Notice something weird in this photo below?
